Goody’s Headache Powder Sponsors NASCAR Busch Series Race
North Carolina Speedway announces entitlement of 2004 event

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Speedway and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare are teaming up to host the Goody’s Headache Powder 200 NASCAR Busch Series event on Saturday, Feb. 21 at “The Rock” – the series’ first appearance in the Carolinas of the 2004 season.

One of the most popular analgesics in the southeastern United States, Goody’s provides fast and effective temporary relief from minor aches and pains due to headaches, arthritis, colds or flu, muscle strain, backache and menstrual discomfort. The brand’s relationship with NASCAR dates back to 1977 when Goody’s became one of the sanctioning body’s first non-automotive sponsors. Today it continues its status as the “Official Pain Reliever of NASCAR.”

North Carolina Speedway, a 1.017-mile superspeedway located in the Sandhills of North Carolina, has hosted NASCAR Busch Series events since the series’ inception in 1982.

“North Carolina Speedway is excited to continue its relationship with such an outstanding company as Goody’s in the form of a race entitlement,” said Chris Browning, Executive Vice-President & General Manager, North Carolina Speedway. “The company has strong ties to the racing industry and is committed to working together to provide numerous promotional opportunities as well as an exciting race weekend for our guests.”

"Goody’s is proud to sponsor the Goody’s Headache Powder 200 at North Carolina Speedway,” said Darren Singer, Vice President of Marketing for GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare. “The racing at “The Rock” is always exciting and fast, and since Goody’s is known for its speed in providing pain relief, it makes sense to be associated with this event.” Singer continued, “In the 27 years Goody’s has been associated with NASCAR, we have distributed more than two million free samples of the fast-acting pain powder to race enthusiasts. Fans should look for us during the race weekend in Rockingham to receive their free samples of “The Official Pain Reliever of NASCAR.”

The weekend kicks off Friday, February 20 with practice and qualifying for both the NASCAR Busch and NEXTEL Cup Series. The 197-lap Goody’s Headache Powder 200 Busch Series race begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, and the Subway 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series takes the green flag Sunday, February 22 at 1 p.m.

Grandstand gates will open at 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday of race weekend. Great seats are still available, so order now!
