previously reported that Neville Pinnock’s 1972 Ford Torino won for the
vintage Fords in the ’65-’73 Mustangs vs. ’60-’73 Vintage Fords contest
with 375 horsepower; and that the highest horsepower of the day was
432.1 in the 1994 “Captain America” Mustang owned by Mike Clifford.
careful research, following a tip, we have discovered that the 1976
Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino, owned by Jim Williams, thundered out 463
horsepower and 495 lbs/ft of torque on the Axcelerated Motorsports
dyno, to take the day.
Williams has owned his car for more than 15 years and showed it at the inaugural Carlisle All-Ford Nationals in 1995.
