Thomson Delmar Learning, a leader in automotive education and part
of The Thomson Corporation (TSE: TOC), announces the publication
of the first Spanish-translated ASE Test Preparation Series, available
for the Spring 2002 exams. Thomson Delmar Learning has translated
its top-selling ASE Test Preparation Series for Automotive Service,
Automotive Parts, and Advanced Engine Performance into Spanish,
recognizing the growing base of Spanish-speaking automotive technicians
in the U.S. and the need for Spanish material in the test preparation
arena.
The manuals cover tests A1-A8, L1, P2, and X1, and
are intended for any Spanish-speaking technician or student who
is preparing to take an ASE examination. Each manual is dedicated
to a specific exam, and includes material and questions related
to that competency. In addition to a multitude of practice questions,
also included is the history of the ASE, task lists and overview,
ASE-style exams, explanations to both correct and incorrect answers,
test-taking strategies, a thorough glossary, and more. The manuals
are sold individually ($24.95 list price) or as a complete set (ISBN
1-4018-1530-8, $199.95 list price), and are now available from Thomson
Delmar Learning.
Approximately half of all automotive mechanics in
the United States are Hispanic, while only a small percentage of
test-takers are Hispanic. Spanish speakers are now allowed to bring
ASE-approved translators with them to the ASE exams. Combining the
availability of translators along with Thomson Delmar Learning’s
test preparation materials should help to increase ASE certification
among Spanish-speaking technicians, and therefore improve the quality
of automotive service provided by the technicians.
This year’s Spring Test Dates are May 7, 9, and 14, and tests
are administered nationwide. The deadline for ASE test registration
with a translator was March 22, 2002, and the regular registration
deadline is March 29,2002. The ASE certification tests were created
to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through testing
and certification of industry professionals. Thomson Delmar Learning
is a strong supporter of this voluntary certification for all automotive
technicians, and has been developing leading ASE test preparation
materials, in most areas of testing, for the past five years.
